The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has launched the "Hong Kong Mega 8" campaign, showcasing the city as Asia's events capital through a series of arts, pop culture, and sports events. This initiative, running throughout March and April, aims to attract global visitors to experience Hong Kong's vibrant arts scene and cultural allure.
The campaign features eight major events, including the Asian debut of Art Basel's "Zero 10" initiative, which will present digital artworks at Art Basel Hong Kong. South Korean digital artist DeeKay will showcase his work, "DeePle the People," projecting it onto the Hong Kong Club Building from 24 to 29 March. DeeKay expressed excitement about reaching a diverse audience, stating, “I wanted to reflect the city as a living, moving place shaped by its people, its rhythm, and its cultural vibrancy.”
In addition to digital art, the campaign includes the "Hong Kong Art Month Discovery Guide," offering travel information and event details across the city's art districts. Visitors can explore exhibitions, performances, and dining options in areas like Central, Wan Chai, and the West Kowloon Cultural District.
Further enhancing the cultural experience, ArtHouse Tai Hang 2026 will transform historic houses into art and dining hubs, whilst Hongkong Land's "Art Walk in Central" will feature guided tours and public art encounters. The season concludes with a street celebration on 29 March.
HKTB Chairman Peter Lam emphasised the campaign's goal to maximise economic benefits by enhancing visitor experiences and creating business opportunities for local sectors. The initiative underscores Hong Kong's commitment to maintaining its status as a premier destination for arts and culture
