Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas has announced the commencement of ticket sales for its new direct flights connecting Rio de Janeiro's RIOgaleão International Airport and Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport. This marks GOL's entry into intercontinental travel, following the addition of five Airbus A330-900 aircraft to its fleet. The flights will begin on 16 September 2026, with four weekly roundtrips.
Initially, from 16 September to 24 October, flights will depart Rio de Janeiro at 8:00 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Lisbon at 9:40 PM. On Fridays, the departure is slightly later at 8:05 AM, with arrival at 9:45 PM. From 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027, the schedule adjusts to a 9:00 AM departure on the same days, maintaining the 9:40 PM arrival.
For the return journey, flights from Lisbon will leave at 11:30 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, reaching Rio de Janeiro at 5:30 AM the following day. On Fridays, the departure is at 11:35 PM, arriving at 5:35 AM on Saturday.
The new route will be serviced by the Airbus A330, accommodating around 300 passengers and featuring GOL's INSIGNIA business class, which offers premium amenities and lounge access. Tickets are available through GOL's website and app.
In addition to the Lisbon route, GOL has also announced direct flights from Rio de Janeiro to New York's JFK International Airport, starting 8 July, with three weekly flights. Future routes to Paris and Orlando are also planned, with dates to be announced
